A Wonderful Week with Anke and Thomas

A moving week with visitors from Germany: Anke and Thomas visit me in Denmark and leave behind unforgettable moments.

A Wonderful Week with Anke and Thomas May 12, 2024

What a moving and beautiful week I've had behind me. Anke and Thomas came to visit, and only now do I realize how much I've missed these special moments.

## The Arrival

On May 7th, the two of them arrived here in the afternoon. The weather couldn't have been more perfect—brilliant sunshine, a deep blue sky, and wonderfully warm temperatures. When I saw them step out of the car, I couldn't hold back my tears. I cried like a baby, and in that moment I realized just how much I'd missed them.

They had driven 1100 kilometers to get here, and I was so relieved they'd made it safely. For dinner, I'd kept it deliberately simple—warm, smoked salmon in various preparations, which I'd bought down at the harbor, along with potato salad. After such a long drive, you never know how exhausted they'd arrive.

## Magical Moments in Skiveren

That very evening, we drove out to Skiveren to watch the sunset. It was simply wonderful—one of those moments that burns itself into your memory forever.

## Skagen and the Power of Nature

The next day, we headed to Skagen, where we marveled at the natural wonders. The weather was far too beautiful to hide away in a museum. Instead, we enjoyed the fresh air and the impressive landscape.

## When Time Passes Too Quickly

But that's how it is with beautiful moments—the week flew by. Before I knew it, it was time to say goodbye. Yesterday morning after breakfast, Anke and Thomas had to head back.

## What Really Matters

It was so precious to simply sit at the table with Anke, to talk, to say what's on your mind, to speak with someone you share memories with. All these seemingly self-evident things become so valuable when you suddenly don't have them anymore. We did a lot together, we were even frustrating with each other at times, but most importantly, we simply experienced life together.

Saying goodbye was hard. I was so sad when they left again. Now my normal life is back, but I have to get used to it again. Christoph and Yin are coming to visit in a week, but somehow I'm still caught up in this one special week with Anke and Thomas.

Sometimes you need visits like this to realize how important the people in our lives are and how precious shared time truly is.
