There's No Going Back Now July 29, 2023
Yes, the bank said yes.
I should probably be jumping for joy right now, but instead I feel kind of numb. We're getting the money for our dream house in Denmark. They even gave us a little bonus — apparently our documents and creditworthiness are better than we thought.
Everything is moving so fast, faster than I imagined it would. A broker from the bank is coming next week to look at my house, take photos, and put it on the market. Yesterday I was still standing hesitantly in the bank parking lot, and today an appointment for the house viewing is already scheduled. That's a pace that almost takes my breath away.
The money will be available to us within the next three weeks. Three weeks! Then we could theoretically sign the purchase contract for the house in Denmark. The signature that will completely change our lives.
Now everything is moving terribly fast. It feels strange to me. Yesterday I still had doubts, and now the train is rolling at full speed and I'm sitting in it with no brake lever within reach.
I hardly slept last night. I looked at pictures of the house, imagined how we'll live there. The sound of the sea in the distance, the clear air, the new surroundings. It's exciting and frightening at the same time.
Yes, now there's almost no going back. The sale of my house is in motion, the financing is in place. We're seeing this through to the end. Whether it's the right decision? Time will tell. But now it's about: take a deep breath and look forward.
Next week I need to start sorting through what we're taking and what we're leaving behind. A new chapter is beginning.
