Delicious, simply delicious! December 5th, 2025
Sometimes a day brings a little culinary highlight with it, and that's exactly what happened today. Thanks to our lovely Tina and her husband Jann, who gifted us freshly caught langoustines, we got to enjoy a very special lunch: meatballs made from langoustine. Yep, you read that right! Not the classic version with ground meat or fish, but wonderfully delicately seasoned and incredibly juicy meatballs made from fresh langoustine meat. A culinary delight like no other! And just a little bit decadent, don't you think, dear Jockel!
Languoustines thrive beautifully here, and it would almost be a waste not to have them on the menu regularly. Most of the time, they end up in our pan with garlic and oil or are simply boiled ... simple, aromatic, perfect. But today we wanted to try something new, and I can tell you: langoustine meatballs are pure poetry!
Yesterday I cooked a good kilo of fresh langoustines and then patiently and lovingly extracted the meat. This morning, I gradually created this delicious meatball mixture, which was later fried golden brown in the pan. Crispy on the outside, tender on the inside, with this incomparably delicate seafood flavor. Absolutely delicious! I'll share the recipe here in the coming days.
When it comes to our daily life here, there's one thing we still need to get used to: Danish lunch habits. Eating a warm lunch? Not really typical here. But we stick to what we love: a hot lunch and a cold dinner. That feels most natural to us, and I think we'll keep doing it that way. Especially when lunches like this are on the table!
A day like today shows once again how wonderfully pleasure, gratitude, and a bit of adventurous spirit can come together.
A thousand thanks again to Tina and Jann - you brought us real joy today!
