Learn, Experience, Hit the Road February 15, 2025
The days are flying by.
I feel like I'm doing nothing but learning these days. Learning for my training, learning at language school, learning for exams. Every week I'm being tested—written exams, oral exams, group presentations, one-on-one conversations. My head is so full sometimes I don't even know which way is up.
On weekends I'm in Skagen with Daniela. We go on tours, ride the bus through the region with the others who are doing this training too. And every weekend we dive into new topics—art, history, nature, tourism—all in Danish, all intensely.
But today was a very special day despite everything.
For the first time, I got to lead a real tour with an experienced colleague, Päivi from Finland. She's been working here for three years—and today we guided the guests from an English cruise ship together.
We were at Grenen, watching together as the North Sea and Baltic Sea meet. We visited the buried church, waded through the dunes, told stories, explained things, laughed.
It was a really wonderful day.
Michael and I had actually planned to head to Germany early this morning because we have appointments there. But when it became clear that I could do the tour today with Päivi, we spontaneously changed our plans.
In the afternoon we finally hit the road. I drove home—almost 45 minutes—had a quick bite, said goodbye to the cats, and then we got straight in the car.
Tonight we're staying at a hotel on the highway. Tomorrow morning we'll drive on—and first thing we're visiting my brother.
A day full of impressions, full of movement, full of life. And the learning just keeps going. Always.
