Between Goodbye and New Beginning 26. November 2024
We spent a few days in Germany - and then came back very quickly. Home, back to Mieze.
She made it through. But she's not doing well. Tina cared for her with such love and devotion, and I'm endlessly grateful for that. Now I give Mieze her injections every day, I'm in regular contact with the vet, she's being weighed, and blood tests are being done.
The results aren't good. And yet - she's here, she's alive, she looks at me with a gaze that says so much. I love this cat. I don't know if it's right to let her go or if I can hope. The vet says: There is hope. I'm trying to hold onto that.
It's especially hard because our dog died last summer. This situation now - it cuts right through me. I need this cat so much right now.
In Germany, we were fortunately able to settle quite a lot. The room is cleared out, the chapter of Michael's childhood home is now definitively closed. We're not carrying anything from there with us anymore. It's over. And that's a good thing.
My birthday was quiet. No big celebration. I had school - and lunch with Michael. After that, I bought a small cake and shared it with my classmates. Our new teacher was there too - Bojan. A likeable person.
What disappointed me: Nobody could or wanted to sing a birthday song in Danish. I missed that. In Germany, we learned it in the first lesson - back then at the adult education center. But well, I didn't go to school to be celebrated. I went there to learn. Because it's important to me to really be able to speak Danish. And that remains my goal.
