Departing with a Heavy Heart

A visit to Germany is coming up. The family needs to take care of important matters, while our sick cat Mieze is in good hands at home.

Departing with a Heavy Heart 15. November 2024

Tomorrow we're driving to Germany. It can't be put off any longer. So much needs to be sorted out urgently - conversations with Mom, with my brother, open questions, decisions that need to be made. We have to take care of things, including this part of our family.

I'm very grateful that we can stay with Peter and Susanne. It gives me a feeling of calm in the midst of all this turmoil. And Sunday there's a gathering planned - with Mom, André, Tina and the kids. I hope it will be a lovely evening, despite everything that lies between us or remains unspoken.

We won't be staying long. Because Mieze is still very sick. She gets medication, tablets, injections - and now she's resting alone in a room. It seems to be doing her good, away from the other two cats who often bother her.

Tina is looking after her. I've discussed everything with her. She knows Mieze well and I trust her completely. She's made me feel that it's okay to go now.

The vet says it doesn't look like a goodbye. She's very sick, yes - but there is hope. And I'm holding onto that hope. I so wish everything will be okay.

I'm holding onto that hope. I so wish everything will be okay.
